Over the years I have conducted numerous studies on the mind through the lens of sweet liquor. I have come up with some startling conclusions. One of which is the mystery of the blackout and how it relates to memory. I have had some interesting theories over the years about how memory is stored, and where it is stored exactly. One theory I had is that Memory is stored in the cloud of the universe and that Steve Jobs got the idea for icloud from Jesus.
According to this theory, the only thing the liquor effects is your ability to access the cloud for a certain range of time. This would explain the interesting phenomenon of people telling you what happened during the course of the night and you magically remembering what they are talking about. If that person didn’t spark your memory, you would have never known that it happened. Was the memory ever there in the first place if it required someone else’s retelling to trigger it in your own head, or are they just allowing you a bigger window of access into the cloud for the night?
What does this have to do with adrenaline? Well, I have found that adrenaline is able to free your mind from the most powerful of shut downs. It will kick start your mind’s access to the cloud back in full gear. They say that memories created in heavy stress are the most powerful and long lasting. This would give credence to my argument. How do I know this? My friends happen to be a bunch of fucking savages who love wrestling. When I say wrestling I mean actually challenging each other and having it out without punches or kicks to see who wins. I happened to be blacked out one day and I was awakened out of this haze by someone having my back and attempting to get a rear naked choke on me. The surge of adrenaline took me out of being deeply fucked up on liquor to completely sober in 2 seconds. However, I couldn’t remember what transpired to get me to that position. For the record I didn’t get choked out. No one can choke me out.
Here’s a thought, if you have a drunk friend doing crazy shit who is obviously blacked out, perhaps the best thing to do to them is start to wrestle them. To avoid a possible fight, sneak up behind them and take them down, then try to put a submission move on them. The time and effort from them it takes to try and stop you will awaken them, and then you can just talk them down. If at all possible, have a plan in place to tell each of your friends about this so that when they do come out of it, they won’t be super pissed at you. Tell them you are just trying to do what is best ahead of time, and there will be no sour grapes. Warning: this will actually work.
